Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before using our website or services.
Last updated: March 2026
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions govern your use of the Chimney Geeks website (chimneygeeks.co.uk) and the provision of all services carried out by Chimney Geek Limited. By using this website or engaging our services, you accept these terms and conditions in full. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you must not use this website or our services.
You must be at least 18 years of age to use this website or enter into a contract with us. This website and all services are operated by Chimney Geek Limited, a company incorporated in England and Wales (company registration number 09021866), with its registered address at 424 Ashley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0AA.
2. Scope of Services
Chimney Geeks provides the following services across Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch and the wider Dorset area:
- Chimney sweeping
- Chimney repairs and maintenance
- Chimney rebuilds
- Chimney takedowns and removal
- Wood burning stove installations
- Roofing services
- Free surveys and inspections
The exact scope of work for each project will be detailed in writing within our quotation. Any additional work required beyond the original quotation will be discussed and agreed with you in writing before being carried out.
3. Quotations and Pricing
All quotations are provided free of charge following a survey of the work required. Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated in writing. Prices quoted are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
A quotation is a fixed price for the agreed scope of work. If additional work is identified during the project (for example, hidden defects uncovered once work has commenced), we will inform you promptly and provide a revised quotation for approval before proceeding.
Price Match Promise
We offer a price match promise. If you receive a like-for-like written quotation from another reputable, fully insured and suitably qualified tradesperson for the same scope of work, we will endeavour to match or beat that price. The competing quotation must be provided in writing and must detail the same materials, specifications and standards of work. Chimney Geeks reserves the right to verify the competing quotation and to decline the price match at its sole discretion where the comparison is not genuinely like-for-like.
4. Booking, Cancellations and Your Right to Cancel
A booking is confirmed once you have accepted our quotation in writing (including by email) and any agreed deposit has been received. We will make every reasonable effort to commence and complete work within the timescales communicated, but dates provided are estimates and not guaranteed unless expressly confirmed as fixed.
Your Cancellation Rights (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
If your contract with us was agreed away from our business premises (for example, at your home or online), the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a 14-day cooling-off period in which you may cancel the contract without giving a reason.
The 14-day cancellation period begins on the day after the contract is entered into. To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (for example, by letter, email to info@chimneygeeks.co.uk, or telephone on 01202 985 030).
If you have requested that work begins within the 14-day cancellation period and you subsequently cancel, you will be required to pay for any work already carried out and materials already purchased up to the point of cancellation, calculated on a proportionate basis.
Cancellation by Chimney Geeks
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule work due to adverse weather conditions, illness, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. In such cases, we will contact you as soon as practicable to rearrange the work at a mutually convenient time.
5. Payment Terms
Payment terms will be set out in your quotation and may vary depending on the nature and value of the work. Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- For chimney sweeping and smaller jobs, full payment is due upon completion of the work.
- For larger projects (repairs, rebuilds, stove installations, roofing), a deposit may be required to secure your booking and cover material costs. The deposit amount will be specified in your quotation.
- The balance is due upon satisfactory completion of the work, unless a staged payment schedule has been agreed in writing.
We accept payment by bank transfer, cash, and card. In the event of late payment, we reserve the right to charge interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, as well as reasonable recovery costs.
6. Guarantees and Warranties
10-Year Guarantee
Chimney Geeks provides a 10-year guarantee on qualifying structural chimney work, including chimney rebuilds, major repairs and wood burning stove installations. The specific guarantee terms applicable to your project will be confirmed in writing at the time of quotation or completion.
The guarantee covers defects in workmanship and materials supplied by Chimney Geeks. The guarantee does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear or deterioration
- Damage caused by third parties, misuse, neglect or failure to maintain
- Damage resulting from structural movement, subsidence or other pre-existing conditions not identified at the time of survey
- Consequential loss or damage
- Work or components supplied by others
The guarantee is provided to the original customer at the property where the work was carried out and is not transferable unless agreed in writing. To make a claim under the guarantee, please contact us by telephone on 01202 985 030 or by email at info@chimneygeeks.co.uk.
Chimney Sweeping
Chimney sweeping services are carried out to industry standards. A certificate of sweeping will be issued upon completion. Due to the nature of chimney sweeping, no long-term guarantee is offered on sweeping services, as chimneys require regular maintenance and sweeping at least once per year (or more frequently depending on usage).
7. HETAS Registration and Compliance
Chimney Geeks is a HETAS-registered installer. All wood burning stove installations are carried out in accordance with current Building Regulations (Approved Document J) and British Standards. As a HETAS-registered business, we are authorised to self-certify installations and notify your local authority Building Control department on your behalf, removing the need for a separate building control inspection for the stove installation itself.
Upon completion of a stove installation, you will receive a HETAS certificate of compliance and the installation will be registered with your local authority. It is important that you retain this certificate, as it may be required when selling your property or for insurance purposes.
8. Building Regulations and Sign-Off
Where applicable, all work is carried out in compliance with current Building Regulations for England and Wales. For work that requires building regulation approval (such as structural alterations, stove installations or changes to flue systems), we will advise you of the requirements and, where possible, handle the notification and sign-off process on your behalf.
It is the homeowner's responsibility to ensure that any necessary planning permission is obtained prior to work commencing. Chimney Geeks can advise on whether planning permission is likely to be required, but we are not responsible for obtaining planning consent on your behalf unless specifically agreed in writing.
9. Access Requirements
You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the work area on the agreed date(s). This includes:
- Clearing the area around the fireplace, chimney breast or roof access point as reasonably required
- Ensuring that there is safe vehicular access for our team and equipment where necessary
- Providing access to water and electricity supplies where required for the work
- Ensuring that pets are secured away from the work area
- Informing us of any known hazards, asbestos, or structural concerns before work commences
If we are unable to carry out the scheduled work due to lack of access or inadequate preparation, we reserve the right to charge a call-out fee to cover our time and travel costs.
10. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
Subject to the above, Chimney Geek Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or special loss or damage, loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity arising from or in connection with our services or this website.
Our total liability to you in respect of all losses arising under or in connection with the contract, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall not exceed the total amount paid by you for the services in question.
Chimney Geeks holds comprehensive public liability insurance and employer's liability insurance. Details of our insurance coverage are available upon request.
11. Complaints Procedure
We are committed to providing an excellent standard of work and customer service. If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can resolve the matter:

- Post: Chimney Geek Limited, 424 Ashley Road, Poole, Dorset, BH14 0AA
We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to provide a full response within 14 working days. If the matter requires an inspection of the work, we will arrange a convenient time to visit the property. We will endeavour to resolve all complaints fairly and promptly.
If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office. For disputes relating to HETAS-registered work, you may also contact HETAS directly.

15. Force Majeure
